Seal Design Overview Used in applications where ultra-low friction, chemical compatibility, long life and extreme temperature performance is required. PTFE offers many advantages in sealing applications, however it typically requires an energiser to maintain and enhance sealing forces. The engergizing springs are available with either steel spring or rubber energizers. Depending on the particular application a broad range of seal profiles are available. Spring Energized Seals Spring Energized Seals can be used for applications requiring high sealing efficiency. Spring Energized Seals consist of U-shaped rings and stainless steel energizing springs (in either a V or coil section). Rubber Energized Seals Elastomeric energized seals incorporate O-rings or square section rings in a selection of materials as required by the application. All elastomeric seals are available in piston or rod sealing configuration.
